My only comment is on another comment from "Pro-Freedom". I fail to see where what this lady says is in any way anti-American. At worst, it's anti-Bush...and I share that feeling.

I know nothing about anything, and my blind patriotism has caused this. If I was a real patriot I would understand that this means standing up for what is right, and not standing by as my constitution and bill of rights are distorted and bent to fulfil my governments neo-conservative utopian agenda. I hang my head in shame.

So, Nichole... "Liars and Killers of Babies"? What the $%#* are you talking about? Bush and his flawed policies has killed thousands upon thousands of innocent Iraqis- excuse me- people. He is pro death penalty- also a form of goverment sponsored murder (Isn't that in the bible somewhere? Thou shalt not kill?) AND anti stem-cell research- technology that could help save millions of folks with a myriad of maladies. Liars? How about weapons of mass destruction, the end of hostilities, and our "recovering economy"? Are you insane? Open your eyes! We just re-elected a man who is killing our best and brightest soldiers for a side-show war. The war is in Afganistan, Israel, and on our home-front. The problem is W was too good a liar for you to pick up on and you bought it- hook, line and sinker. Too bad. Sorry Martina- I voted for Kerry.

Chris--since you are pro-bible and don't think anybody should be killed, then why don't you tell me again how abortion and partial-birth abortion is not murder.

I don't know about "pro-bible"- I was just pointing oout a little hypocrisy(sp?). And as far as abortion goes, I think we have no business legislating anything to do with it- that is an issue between a woman, her doctor and her beliefs (faith- if you want to call it that). Abortion should not be a political football- all I know is if it was ooutlawed then women and girls would go to extraordinary lengths to get them in very dangerous and life threatening situations. Partial birth abortions? I am so glad that I am not a woman!

Chris--One question. I hear this point a lot about how women will have the so called "back-alley" abortions if abortion is outlawed.
1) how do you know that?
2) since when do we pass/not pass legislation based on whether or not people will break that particular law?
Another thing, I tend to see abortion as more of a medical/biological issue than a religious issue. Murder is already illegal, so the only thing left to do is define if the killing of a fetus can be considered murder or not. Now as it stands it is not considered murder, but shouldn't we do some more research before we make a decision like this? New research comes out all the time that supports both sides of the argument, and think it is a bit to premature to assume we know all there is to know on this issue and make laws as such.

Ben- Back alley abortions were the norm before Roe v Wade. Women were dying, getting mutilated, and suffering many abortion related ailments due to their desperation. That IS what would happen- it isn't hypothetical. If this is a moral issue, the civilized thing to do is to offer proper medical care to these women. If it is a religious issue then let God judge them not the government.
